Church On Mission

Serving Our Communities And Beyond

Good Samaritan Inn

The Mission of The Good Samaritan Inn is to create opportunities with the support of our community toward improving the lives of our economically disadvantaged neighbors through daily nourishment, life skills education, and job training programs.

New Beginnings also believes in the importance of serving those in our community considered to be the “least of these.” We partner with the Inn by fixing and serving meals five Sundays a year as well as provide food items collected during our “5th Sunday food drive.”

New Life Pregnancy Center

New Life Pregnancy Center has been offering compassionate support to women facing unplanned pregnancies since 1986. We are here to answer your questions, provide free and confidential counseling, and offer classes and support that will empower you to make the best decision possible for your next step.

New Beginnings firmly believes that every life is a gift from God. We partner with NLPC by participating in their annual “Change For Life Campaign,” providing table sponsorship during their fall banquet, and sending volunteers to assist in various programs and in the thrift store.

Sermons

God's Shelter Of Love

God’s Shelter of Love God's Shelter of Love offers emergency shelter to homeless families, women and children, in central Illinois that includes room and board, job skills training and resource referrals.

James 1:27 “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” Believing that this verse is a command and not simply a suggestion, New Beginnings partners with GSOL in both a financial basis as well as sending volunteers and work teams.

Homebound Visitation Outreach

Sometimes the greatest gift any of us can give is simply the gift of ourselves. There are many people from our church and in our community who simply need to know somebody cares.

That's where our visitation outreach ministry comes into play. Volunteering even only an hour or so once a week on a regular basis can make a world of difference in someone's life. Our volunteers listen, offer support, and encourage those who are not able to attend a regular church service.

New Beginnings will partner with you to help you understand the dynamics involved, along with practical ways you can make your visits a blessing for everyone involved.

Oasis Day Center

Oasis day center has been serving the needs of the homeless population in Decatur since 1999. The shelter is designed to be a safe refuge from the streets, meeting individuals and building relationships on their “own turf.” The center offers a connection to basic community resources including food, clothing, shelter, medical needs, and job opportunities.

New Beginnings partners with Oasis through an annual winter supplies drive that provides blankets, gloves, hats, jackets, sleeping bags, and other items to help the homeless stay warm during the cold winter months. We also take food items and provide volunteers throughout the year.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is an integral part of the Christian church, although distinctive in government and practice. The Army's doctrine follows the mainstream of Christian belief and its articles of faith emphasize God's saving purposes. Its objectives are the advancement of the Christian religion...of education, the relief of poverty, and other charitable objects beneficial to society or the community of mankind as a whole." (Salvation Army Act of 1980)

New Beginnings assists the Salvation Army in fulfilling their mission in Decatur and Macon County by providing food items from the 5th Sunday Food Drive as well as monetary contributions through the year.
